Gore.com
Redesigning gore.com for W. L. Gore and Associates, a huge, international company, proved to be quite a challenge. We needed to present a refreshed look and type system that works across 9+ languages, including non-western alphabets.
W.L. Gore & Associates (Gore) is a material science company. Gore products are used in everything from athletic clothing, to surgical implants, to cables on the Mars Curiosity Rover.
Gore’s product taxonomy spans many industries, categories, and languages. This breadth of content and tagging required the website redesign to support dense filtering systems and flexible design templates. I worked on a team with Gore to create a flexible and responsive website that put all the company information in one easy-to-find digital place.
Each product has very different features and uses, so I helped design product pages that can support many different types of information without feeling overly dense.
We added a human touch to what could otherwise be seen as very technical information by weaving employee stories and snippets about the great company culture into the browsing experience. The success of the redesign led to a fruitful relationship between Gore and Happy Cog that continues to this day.
