CitiBike
New York City’s CitiBike, which recently celebrated its fifth birthday, is one of the largest and most successful bike share systems in the world. I worked on a team to create an extendible design system for the CitiBike family of websites for various bike share programs across North America (NYC, Chicago, Toronto, Portland, and D.C.). This redesign required very strict content and functionality requirements from the beginning because the site structures had to extend across multiple bikeshare brands after the completion of our project for other cities.
On a team with other designers, I created a visual system that kept the lightheartedness and fun of the brand, while maintaining a clear and professional structure.
A mix of tourists and locals use bike share programs, and they all want to be able to find information quickly and clearly on small screens and with poor connections. We worked hard to ensure the system is as lightweight, responsive, and fun as possible to reflect the joy of riding a bike through the city.
My role on project: Designer (template mapping, wireframes, design, annotations, illustration, functionality documentation)
